As a strength and conditioning coach I have been fortunate to have worked with a wide variety of athletes over the years. Some at the beginning of their sporting careers and others as full-time paid professionals. From my experience I can assure you that achieving a high level of performance in the sporting arena is less about being blessed with good genetics and more about attitude, effort, and "heart". This is why each individual who comes through our doors will not only receive the highest quality of training but will also be immersed in an atmosphere or "culture" that will bring out their very best. They will learn what it takes to succeed both on and off the field. Whether wanting to make the team, or striving to attain the highest level of sport, the process remains the same; providing the absolute highest quality training and coaching, bar none.

I was taught early in my career that essential to this process is the formation of a partnership between athlete and coach. For no matter how good the training program, high performance can never be realized solely in the gym. This is why my role extends far beyond the realm of weightlifting and requires an in-depth understanding and appreciation of all factors surrounding optimal performance (i.e. nutrition, sleep, stress, not to mention the psychological dimensions of sport). I often describe this to my athletes as the "other 23", meaning that what they do out of the weightroom is as important as what they do within.

My philosophical approach to coaching is relatively simple, yet infinitely profound. I strive to create an encouraging environment in which athletes learn to truly believe in the power of their dreams. Some call it following your bliss or being in the zone, I simply refer to it as being in the state of "play". In this state your full attention is given to the moment because there is nowhere else you want to be. There are many books that have shaped my appreciation of this wisdom.

Accordingly, I feel it is of utmost importance to make physical training enjoyable. When individuals desire to train, a lack of motivation is rarely an issue. We feel our approach to training is not only one-of-a-kind, but also produces one-of-a-kind results.

Athlete performing self-assisted glute-ham raise. The traditional version of this exercise is performed on a machine apparatus that often reinforces improper mechanics. Our solution is what you see in the picture above. By performing the movement with knees on a sandbag and feet anchored we are able to maximize recruitment of proper musculature and avoid hyperextension of the spine. When done correctly the muscles of the posterior chain experience a tremendous amount of tension due to the muscles being activated across multiple joints.
